Project Summary

BACKYARD Garden Transformation

Transform the area around a mature Silver Maple into an enticing backyard garden. Defined by a natural low garden wall, the design features high altitude semi-native (and naturalized) plantings, decorative rock and accent boulders sourced from local stone. Introducing all season color and interest for a visual display from the deck, and a welcoming flagstone path that beckons out into the yard or directly to the drive.

Highlighting the new garden is a visually appealing dry creek feature, winding alongside the low garden wall. Step over this ‘rock river’ as you follow the flagstone path.

The existing lawn area is refreshed with new sod and bordered by the new garden areas defined by a meandering rock river feature.

❖ Site Prep: Remove Existing Gravel, Mulch, Grass (for new garden/sod line); Hauling Away Any Unwanted Debris And Disposing Of Properly

❖ Haul Away Any Unwanted Debris And Dispose Of Properly

❖ Create & Install New Buff Dry Stack Low Garden Wall Per Design. Fill with up to 3-6” Soil on Inside of Wall (extending down to existing grade, 4-6ft from inside of wall. Leave grade untouched for 4-6’ around ‘collar’ of tree trunk.

❖ Install 1 set of New Buff Flagstone Steps at designated deck location (south west corner). Grade/Road Base for stability.

❖ Install 1 Medium + 3 Small Moss Rock Accent Boulders

❖ Create & Install New Flagstone Stepping Path Per Design. Leading from deck to driveway. Leading From The Porch In Between Garden Areas A + C.Flagstone, 3-6”wide spacing, mulch in between. Settle in Road Base as needed. Use Weed mat. No edging.

❖ Create & Install New 8-12” Cobblestone Rock River Per Design. Use Weed mat. To Protect Tree Roots Do Not dig down; Build at grade and slightly raised. *View existing rock river at front of house for continuity reference.

❖ Stage + Install Plants Per Design.

❖ Convert existing (Lawn) Sprinkler Valves To Drip (Zone/s) As Needed

❖ Install drip irrigation: using 3/4” mainline with 1/4” dedicated line/s for each new plant and appropriate volume emitter/s

❖ Install New Layer Of Cedar Mulch + Pea Gravel Per Design To Cover Ground And Protect New Plants.

❖ Area B

GARDEN WALL = BUFF NATURAL DRY STACK

  • Approx 25-35 curved linear ft

  • Situated roughly 12 ft out (radius) from base of existing Maple tree

  • Same height as deck where it meets the deck (at the east step)

  • Stepped down once at the west (open) end

STONE DECK STEPS = BUFF FLAGSTONE or SANDSTONE

  • 1-2 Steps (3ft W ea) for each of the two deck-access points

FLAGSTONE STEP PATH/S = ARIZONA BUFF FLAGSTONES (Natural Edge)

  • Placement of step stones with wide (3-6”) spacing

COBBLE = PUEBLO GREY 6-8”

• Use to define the ‘ROCK RIVER’

• ROCK RIVER ‘flows’ between garden areas A + C, under the large ‘bridge’ flagstone (3x5’ piece), and along the curvy lawn edge, ending near the existing Russian Olive Tree.

MULCH = GORILLA HAIR BROWN (WESTERN CEDAR OR WASHINGTON)

• Spread mulch or pea gravel 2-3” thick in designated areas per design

 

BERM SOIL = PLANTER’S MIX + AMENDMENTS (CO Materials - custom blend):

   • + 15% Vermiculite or similar

   • + 15% SPANGHAM PEAT MOSS or similar

PLANTS = *Rebecca is scheduled to be present on site (included) for plant staging


• Receive Delivery (Nursery) 1 + Check off the invoice

• Stage On Site Per Design — use of flags for plant placement

• Client “green lights” staging in situ

• Plant installation commences
