Initial Consultation
Initial Consultation

During the initial on-site consultation we will have our first conversation with you about your intended project including project location, size, initial ideas, uses, plants, materials, budget, timeline, etc. This gives us a sense of what exists and what’s possible. We then craft our ideas for you to look over in an initial proposal which serves as a flexible starting point from which to move forward.

Proposal + Estimate
Proposal + Estimate

We send you a general project proposal which sets the scope of what we understand and envision the project may entail, such as an overview, design ideas, use requirements, deliverables, team, specialists, and a rough budget, and timeframe. At this stage a general agreement can be made, perhaps with a contract, and with it a green light for next steps such as site observations, research, and planning.

Site Analysis
Site Analysis

Site analysis involves observing the existing site conditions such as sun, vegetation, terrain, buildings, evaluating the current and desired uses, environmental factors (orientation, light, noise, wind, water, soil, neighborhood, etc) and desired continuity. We will walk around the immediate and surrounding area or ask additional questions to gain an understanding of various contextuals, taking pictures for reference.

Concept Design
Concept Design

With this research, we begin our conceptual design stage by choosing an initial plant and materials list (pics provided), and showing an initial idea of design placement from which to further develop the project ideas. This may be a rough sketch or an overlay on an architectural map. Iterations of the conceptual stage may be sufficient or developed further into a true to scale design.

Design Development
Design Development

Our conceptual design is further developed through iterations into a true-to-scale format to provide you with a more detailed plan. This is the stage where we are able to ensure that the concept/s in development are achievable and will meet your needs. At this stage, if working with additional specialists, we will also determine if there are any major changes or logistics (topographic, access, services, drainage, budget) to address as the design evolves.

Builder Specs
Builder Specs

This stage focuses on finalizing a set of comprehensive drawings and specifications to resolve any final viability issues between concept and implementation. These detailed requirements, aka construction documents, form the basis for the project’s building permit application and approval process. At this stage we act as a reference for the landscape design while working with an independent architect to produce the finalized document specifications.

Installation
Installation

At this stage we offer project management and skilled labor. We either oversee the contractors building the landscape design on site, such as our own team where available, or we are available for reference by the chosen installers. Installation may include Soft and/or Hardscapes such as Trees, Shrubs, Flowers, Groundcover, Boulders, Stonework, Gravel or Cobble, Pavers or Flagstone, Edging, Mulch, Soil, Decking, Fencing, Irrigation, Water Features, etc.

Maintenance
Maintenance

Once the installation is complete it may be advantageous to maintain the landscape, such as with seasonal garden care. Depending on requirements, and availability, the same wonderful and efficient relationships you gain with our service installers or specialists may remain for future consultations or maintenance services by request, or we may refer you to specialists who can assist you moving forward.
